The other day I have made a puff pastry called a "jalousie" which is also known as a window pain for fruits like granny smith apples and pears to show through little slits on the pastry itself. I loved how the apples and pears were an amazing combination together of sweet and tart, plus a little nuttiness from the almond creme was a nice touch. Thanks to a coating of heavy creme instead of egg wash, there was nice coloring to the jalousie. If I had to fix any mistakes with making the jalousie, I would make the window slits more evenly to look more presentable. I would also fix the mistake of adding a lighter coating of powder sugar instead of the heavy coating I added. The jalousie is a fun pastry that anyone can make. Also, instead of apples and pears there are many other combinations with fruits to add to the jalousie.
